Independence is defined as the fact or state of being independent. Independence is a beautiful thing however our independence must be found in the Lord. Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. For far too long, we have allowed sin, our past, our mistakes, others and our own self-doubt to hold us back. It’s time to let go of anything that serves as a barrier between us and God. We must repent of our own wicked ways and turn from them. We must forgive others, forgive ourselves and live like we know how mighty our God is. Live like we have a future rooted in Him.
Affirm the following:
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord . “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
Psalms 139:13-14
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.
Psalms 23:6
Our chains are gone and we’ve been set free, mind, body and spirit. Be joyful because once God has set us free, we are free indeed. Let’s hold our heads up toward the hills, celebrate our day of independence and walk into our destiny free of anything that held us from being who God called us to be. Remember, our actions today affect our tomorrow and the future generations.
May the Lord’s peace and grace be with us as we keep pressing forward.
Sincerely,
Tameka Bruce, Ph.D.
