Love is…

Love is a word that tends to be overused and misused today. People can barely know one another, meaning within 1 hour of meeting or texting, and claim that they love each other. People will talk about one another behind their backs yet will quickly tell the same person they talked about that they love them. People will curse you out and talk to you like you are nothing, then say they love you. Confusing huh? Sounds like an oxymoron? Furthermore, sounds like a scheme from the enemy!

I can remember being a young girl and later as an adult, crying all night behind a person who said they loved me yet either verbally or physically hurt me. I am here to scream to the world that love does not equate to being belittled, talked about negatively, lied on, cursed out, overall abused or neglected. That’s not love. Never has been. So as we learn more about love, we must adjust our behaviors so they align with our hearts which should be deeply rooted in how the Word describes love.

In order for a person to love, they must understand what love means (the definition and descriptors). You may still be wondering what is love even as you read this. What does love look like, sound like and feel like. πŸ€”

In 1 Corinithians 13, we are given a definition/description to live by. One that’s easy to understand and easy to apply in our daily lives.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails.

Today and moving forward I pray that you will bask in the love of the Lord, and allow His love to manifest in how you treat yourself and others. Just as God has done it for me, He can do it for you. Love awaits you on earth and in heaven. Have faith, ask and receive it, today, in the name of Jesus! Don’t settle for less, desire and wait for the best! Desire and be your best!

May your eyes be opened wide and your heart opened even wider. May God’s peace and grace be with you as you keep pressing forward in Christ.

Sincerely,

Tameka
